This morning, Metroplus carried an frontpage article on "Cleanliness Quotient". It in general talked about the way youngsters fresh out of college to BPO dress up themselves and present themselves. Article discussed about the employers going that extramile to provide grooming tips to the employees.

I feel it has got more to do with upbringing and peer pressure. Sleeveless shirts with tatooed deltoids, pan stained teeth, jeans torn at the knees may give a heroic, baddy image at colleges. But these habits die hard when they join a workplace immediately after college. They treat the washroom in the office like they use to treat their hostel toilets...leaving it unusable till somebody cleans up.

I have my woeful experiences with "Twin Sharing" accomodation with one colleague or another. After few dreadful experiences, I manage to get up first and use the bathroom and leave the room. You just can't enter the bathroom after these clowns have used them. I simply cannot tolerate a wet bathroom floor in the Hotel. Many do not still know the purpose of the shower curtain. First thing these clowns do is to push the shower curtain out of the tub are push it to either of the sides to have a unhindered view of their own bodies in the mirror... the shower later spills water all over the floor and sometimes even the mirror.

One clown, pushed the curtain out of the tub and had a shower. While getting out of the tub, the wet floor skidded him down. While falling down, he gripped the bottle opener fixed to the wall of the washbasin sill.(Where we lean while shaving). The bottle opener tore his palm and he had to be rushed to a hospital and sutured. If you wonder where on earth this hotel is...it is Hotel Retreat, Malad, Mumbai. That was the most gruesome one, but I do not know if that colleague of mine, now an ex colleague had learnt any valuable lesson out of the whole experience.

Some stone age guys still squat on the western closet(to creat enough pressure to empty their constipated sh.t), and soil the white turkey towel which the hotel gracefully places as a floor mat.

These are hidden experiences, which no HR can take note of and obviously they cannot be trained on these kinda basics. Wash basin and mirror will be splashed with lather after their shave, will make you wonder if somebody bathed their pet dog there.

Shameless farting and that too silently are surely their weapons of mass destruction.

Hopeless parents produce these kind of hopeless kids, who eventually grow up and become well placed with their unknown hidden side intact.
